The biggest thing we need to put on our hair is heat protection. With no barrier between your hair and temperatures that range between 300 and 450 degrees, you’re essentially cooking your hair! . But whether you’re exposing your crown to high or low heat, a protectant is a major key in combating the breakage, dryness, dullness, and brittleness that all stem from heat styling.

A lot of people think you only need heat protection when you are using straighteners, curlers, and hair driers. However just like your skin needs protection from the sun, your hair does too!

Favourite products for hair heat protection

My favorite product for heat protection is the Joicos Defy Damage Protective shield, which is a thermal and UV guard. This daily essential is great for powerful all-day protection against thermal styling, pollution, and UV damage. Use after washing your hair once towel-dried, using one pump and spreading evenly throughout your hair. You can then leave it to dry in or continue to dry and style your hair.

Hair heat protection and Care

As well as using heat protection you always have to start with a great shampoo and conditioner, when away on holiday it’s always good to use something conditioning and protective, especially if your hair is colored you want to protect your color and stop as much damage as possible!

A few of my favourite Shampoo and Conditioner duos from Joico are Hydra Splash, this product is super light and won’t weigh your hair down. Moisture Recovery is for thicker drier hair that needs that deeper condition and lastly, my favourite range is Joico Defy Damage, this range is perfect for coloured hair, it helps fight against further damage and protects your colour!
